Discover The Harp in Shetland: 25 August 2027 - 10am - 1pm

Join us for the first Discover The Harp workshop in Shetland, at the Islesburgh Community Centre in Lerwick.

This three-hour beginner workshop is designed for anyone who has ever wanted to try the harp, no previous experience or music-reading ability is required. You will be introduced to the instrument, learn how to hold and play it, and produce your first notes on a Welsh-made Discovery 16.

Through simple, enjoyable exercises and group playing, you will work towards playing a tune before the end of the session. Along the way, we will explore the harp’s connection with Celtic music, the islands and the wider story of the North Atlantic.

  This is our first Discover The Harp workshop in Shetland, and places are intentionally limited so that everyone receives supportive, hands-on guidance throughout the morning.
